Rochester
International Airport Rochester,
Minnesota
The new gate hold area serves the airport's growing demand
for regional aircraft departure
gates. Large "cloudlights" and projecting airfoil canopy
mimic an aircraft's wing as it ascends
through the clouds. A continuous curtain-wall provides wide views
of the airfield and proximity
to incoming flights. Landside, once through security, passengers
are flooded with natural light and
witness
the
daylighting features, such as, the translucent skyroof and integrated
air-foil
which assist in
managing the solar energy load on the building. The new gateway introduces
visitors with volumes of natural light and sky.
